Biodegradable materials can reduce plastic pollution in aquaculture and fisheries
Dsolve researcher Christian Karl is the first author of a new Dsolve study titled “The role of recycling and biodegradable materials in aquaculture and fisheries”. The study shows that the use of recycled and biodegradable materials in fishing and aquaculture gear can reduce marine plastic waste, prevent ghost fishing and limit microplastic pollution, while also creating new opportunities for a circular economy within the industry.
